<\/span>Financial Mechanism of the Economic Area - EEA Grants<\/span><\/div><\/div>[vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1685865979528{margin-top: 20px !important;}”]Welcome to the website of the GR-G Program of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA).
\nThe European Economic Area (EEA) was created in 1994 to extend the EU’s internal market provisions to the countries of the European Free Trade Area (EFTA). The participating EEA members are three of the four EFTA member states (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, excluding Switzerland), the European Union and its 27 member states.
\nThe general objectives of H.M. EEA period 2014-2021 is on the one hand to contribute to the reduction of economic and social inequalities in the European Economic Area and on the other hand to strengthen bilateral relations between the three (3) Donor countries (Kingdom of Norway, Republic of Iceland, Principality of Liechtenstein) and the Greece through the financial support of the following five (5) priority sectors:
\n\u2022 Innovation, research, education and competitiveness
\n\u2022 Social inclusion, youth entrepreneurship and poverty reduction.
\n\u2022 Environment, energy, climate change and the low carbon economy.
\n\u2022 Culture, Civil Society, good governance, fundamental rights and freedoms.
\n\u2022 Justice and Home Affairs.
\nFor the programming period 2014-2021, the EEA Ministry has allocated a total of 2.8 billion euros, of which \u20ac116.7 million have been allocated to Greece through the international Protocol 38c (Protocol 38c).
\nIn October 2017, the three Donor countries and Greece signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU: Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021) for the programming period 2014-2021, which concerns the financing of nine (9) new programs:
\n1. Innovation, Entrepreneurship and SMEs.
\n2. Social inclusion and empowerment of Roma.
\n3. Local development and poverty reduction.
\n4. Water management.
\n5. Renewable energy sources \u2013 Energy saving.
\n6. Good governance, Institutions and Transparency.
\n7. Asylum and Immigration (Strengthening national asylum and immigration systems).
\n8. Asylum and Immigration (Urgent needs for the reception and identification of new arrivals and accommodation of vulnerable groups)
\n9. Civil Society<\/p>\n

In the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) there is also a provision for the Fund for Bilateral Relations, the purpose of which is the implementation of activities aimed at greater strategic cooperation, networking and exchange of knowledge between bodies from the Donor countries and Greek bodies .[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″]
